Pokémon Sword And Shield's Crown Tundra DLC

Pokemon Sword and Shield: How to Get an Ability Patch

Pokémon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra expansion includes a host of new features and mechanics, along with legendary monsters and exciting items. One of these items is the Ability Patch, which switches a Pokémon’s current ability to its “hidden ability.” The only way to obtain a Pokémon with a hidden ability is to catch Dynamax Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle. These hidden abilities are often referred to as Dream World Abilities—a term adopted from Pokémon Black and White. Hidden abilities can be passed down through breeding your monsters, with the mother passing her hidden ability on.

The Ability Patch allows trainers to switch the Pokémon’s ability to its hidden ability. This gives you more choice of ability types when putting a team together. Once the Ability Patch is used, the abilities cannot be reverted to their regular abilities again, so watch out.

Pokemon Company

You can obtain an Ability Patch from the store for 200 Dynite Ore, the currency gained from Dynamax Adventures. 200 Dynite Ore takes a lot of farming to collect, and as these patches are not cheap, players must use them sparingly.

It is also possible to obtain an Ability Patch from Peony during the Dynamax Adventures. After finishing the Crown Tundra Story and catching Necrozma, take it to Peony, and they will give you an Ability Patch for free.

Good luck!
