Nintendo confirmed today that Pokémon Sword And Shield sold 16 million copies worldwide in around two months.

This makes them among the fastest-selling games released on Nintendo Switch and sets them on the road of becoming the best selling Pokémon games ever, as Pokémon Sword And Shield already outsold Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu and they are very close in outselling Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, which are currently the best selling entries in the series having sold 17.67 million units to date.

The amazing Pokémon Sword And Shield sales show not only how the series is healthier than ever, but also how popular the Nintendo Switch console is.

Today, Nintendo also confirmed that the Switch has overtaken the SNES in lifetime hardware sales, another amazing result that has been achieved in a short amount of time. The hybrid console is now Nintendo’s third most popular home console of all time.

Pokémon Sword And Shield are now available on Nintendo Switch worldwide.
