Here’s how to use Demon Essences and what you can do with them.

How to Use Demon Essences in Shin Megami Tensei V

Demon Essences are special items that contain the abilities of Demons and that can be fused with the Nahobino or any other Demon in your party to learn the skills contained within.

To use any Demon Essence in your possession, you need to get to any Leyline Fountain and access the World of Shadows. Once there, pick the Apotheosis option to start fusing Demon Essences with your characters. Select the character you want to fuse with an Essence, select an Essence and then confirm the skills you want your character to inherit.

At the start of the game, you will only be able to transfer a fraction of all of the Essences’ skills to a character in your party. To make more skills available, you will need to learn the Art of Essences Miracles. Even after learning these Miracles, however, you may not be able to transfer certain skills. These are unique skills that only a specific Demon can learn. Or the Nahobino, if you learn a certain Miracle that becomes available around the campaign’s midpoint.

How to Inherit Demon Essences’ Affinities

While regular Demons can only inherit skills from Demon Essences, the Nahobino can also alter his weakness and resistances by inheriting them from Demon Essences. Once this is done, however, the Demon Essence will no longer be available, so be careful about your selection.

Given how useful exploiting the Weakness system is, you will want your Nahobino to be capable of resisting enemy attacks, especially during boss battles. Learn to take advantage of the Demon Essences system, and no one will be able to stand in your way.
