Now, SpongeBob is on the chase to retrieve the formula back from Plankton in SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit! In this platforming runner game, players will help SpongeBob traverse through the many different locales of Bikini Bottom to stop Plankton. Along the way he will rescue fan favorite friends, and with their help get to previously unreachable areas!

In our SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit tips and tricks guide, we will go over some platforming basics to help you get your bearings, and we will also give you some pointers on how to find all of the spatulas. Here is our SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit cheats, tips and tricks strategy guide to get all spatulas!

Remember the Controls

SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit is technically an autorunner, but it is one of the few autorunners where you can actually stop your character at any time. If you swipe down, SpongeBob will stop running and simply stand there.

This may not seem like much, but in times where precision platforming is required, it helps to stop and give yourself a breather for a second. There are some complicated platforming setups later in the game, so stopping and planning out your route could be helpful!

Remember that you can turn around and go backwards at any time you like. If you mess up a jump and miss a spatula or a few coins, you can always go back and try again.

If you get past a certain point in the level that you cannot physically backtrack over, you can always just run into a hazard or obstacle on purpose to respawn at your last checkpoint, which is hopefully back far enough to give you another chance.

Do not worry about Missing Items

On your first run through a level, there is a very good chance that you will not be able to collect all three spatulas or all of the coins in the level. This is due to many of the alternate routes being locked behind different character walls.

Each buddy in the game has special abilities that open up new routes in the levels. For example, Patrick can body slam through brick walls, Squidward can create temporary jellyfish platforms where there are clouds, and so forth.

You will not have all of the buddies unlocked right away, so simply enjoy the level and try to grab anything that is possible to get. Do not worry too much that you are missing stuff – it is normal to finish most levels for the first time while missing a few spatulas and some coins.

When you get a new buddy, it might be tempting to go back to that one level that you remembered had the obstacle that the buddy can get through, but it is usually better to wait until you get all buddies.

The game tends to hide multiple paths in one level that require different buddies, so multiple playthroughs are a requirement if you want to get all of the spatulas.

Use Squidward to Hunt down Spatulas

As you are going through the second world Jellyfish Fields, you will rescue Squidward Tentacles. SpongeBob’s cynical friend might be a downer, but he definitely has the skills to help you hunt down spatulas.

Aside from his jellyfish summoning capabilities, Squidward also has the skill “Frycook’s Assistant,” which alerts you when you are nearby a spatula.

When SpongeBob gets within proximity of a spatula, Squidward will begin playing his clarinet. If you wait a little bit, musical notes will start emanating from the clarinet and they will move in the direction of the spatula. Follow the music to find the spatula!

Look for the Shining Spots

Make sure to explore every nook and cranny of the levels. The level designers love to hide secret areas in off-screen spots, so it pays to go through the level slowly and explore everything.

If you come across a spot in the wall that is shining bright yellow rays out, that is a secret area! Secret areas usually require a specific buddy to get into, but they more often than not hide spatulas and coins for you to collect.

Collect all Coins

Collecting all of the coins in a level will reward you with a bonus spatula. Much like the regular spatulas, coins are often times hidden behind buddy-locked walls, so you will need to rescue all of the buddies before you can start collecting all of the coins.

When you are coin hunting, it helps to bring along Mr. Krabs, who is rescued from the fourth world, Rock Bottom. His second ability “Money Vacuum” allows him to suck in nearby coins, making coin collecting much easier.

How to Beat all Bosses

At the end of each world lies a fearsome foe that you must conquer in order to proceed to the next world! Here is how to beat them all.

World 1 – Meca Plankton

Plankton’s giant robot will fly across the screen. He will throw bombs at you, so dash into them to knock them back into him. He will occasionally throw out one of his cousins instead, so make sure you keep an eye on them!

World 2 – King Jellyfish

King Jellyfish will throw his crown at you. Dodge it or dash into it to send it flying back at him! He will also continuously spawn the smaller jellyfish, and remember that you cannot hurt these guys, so stay clear of them!

World 3 – Man Ray

Man Ray will hang onto one of the coasters and shoot green spheres at you. Dash into the spheres to send them back at him, and make sure to dodge the cousins lying around. There will be parts where you need to hang onto a coaster to not fall into the spikes below!

World 4 – Dirty Bubble

There will be dark blue stalagmites along the ground. Running into them will make SpongeBob pick them up, and you can throw them forward. Throw them into Dirty Bubble to damage him, but also keep in mind that there will be walls that you need to break with them.

World 5 – The Cap’tain

You will chase The Cap’tain along his ship, where there will be brown barrels lying about. Dash into these to throw them into The Cap’tain, but watch out – he will retaliate by throwing green barrels back at you. You cannot dash into these, so jump over them!

World 6 – Karen

Plankton’s faithful computer companion is the last thing standing between you and the formula! To defeat her, you must wait until she stops over a charger. There will be a wire that leads to a nearby lever, so hit the lever to shock Karen.

She will throw spike balls out to impede you, so make sure to jump over them and also jump over the chargers that are already on.

Try out New Game+

Once you beat Karen, you have finished the main story! You can now go back and collect any spatulas you have missed, including the bonus spatulas for getting all coins.

If you manage to collect all 108 spatulas, you will unlock new game+ mode. In this mode, you will replay through the same levels but there is a whole new set of spatulas for you to collect. These special golden spatulas are much easier to get, as they are often placed along the main paths and not behind different buddy walls.

However, do note that there is really no reward for completing new game+ with all of the golden spatulas. You get an achievement for it, but that is it. If you want an excuse to play through the game again, then by all means have at it!

That’s all for SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit! If you have any other tips or tricks to share, let us know in the comments below!
