If you have enjoyed playing the first entries of the Final Fantasy games on the go, you will be happy to know that more classic role playing games will be getting released on iOS in the future. You may be less happy to know that they may never get released in the West.
Square Enix has confirmed this morning that the Japanese company is going to bring the Dragon Quest series on iOS. And not just the first games of the series, since the company has the intention to port all of them up until the eight entry of the series, Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, released on Playstation 2 a few years ago.
A teaser site has also been published, confirming the Square Enix announcement and listing all the Dragon Quest games until the eight game.
All of the Dragon Quest older gamers, with the exception of the Ps2 games, have already been ported to a variety of gaming platforms so it will be interesting to see which version will be used as the basis of the ports.
Unfortunately we don’t know if Square Enix is going to make these games available in the West. All of the ports have received an English translation so they might get released for English-speaking players too. With Square Enix now focusing on the mobile market, this would actually make a lot of sense.
The Dragon Quest ports will start getting released before the end of the year in Japan.
