Shrouded Citadel, the augmented reality adventure game has just landed on the app stores to help inject even more fun into the great outdoors.
The game’s developer, Pifer Studios, is clearly a believer in the mantra “bigger is better” as it breaks away from the usual spatial restrictions of VR. Instead, Shrouded Citadel adopts a vast 1:1 scale 3D environment that demands a wide open space for the best possible experience – so you won’t have to worry about knocking over the furniture as you delve deep into the Citadels seemingly endless dungeons.

The aim of the game is quite straight-forward: breaking out of the Citadel in one piece by overcoming its myriad of fiendish puzzles and traps. Besides using your smarts to beat the puzzles, you’ll also have to keep on your toes and your trigger finger ready whenever you run across the game’s hostile ghouls and dungeon bosses. Coupled with the game’s eerie sound design, it makes for quite a chilling experience. Fortunately, at the beginning of the game you’ll receive an extremely cool plasma cannon that’ll lay waste to any unsavoury characters you come across, as well as any annoying obstacles that get in your way.
Thanks to its superb AR motion tracking system, Shrouded Citadel provides an immersive environment that reacts in sync with your physical movement, allowing you to walk, turn, lean, and crouch whilst keeping you in perfect suspense..
Shrouded Citadel is a premium title and is available to download from the App Store and Google Play for $1.99. You can also try the first two levels of the game via Shrouded Citadel’s lite version for iOS and Android.
