The excellent strategy game Frozen Synapse has received a brand new expansion, which introduces several new features to the game.

The expansion, simply title Red, adds a full co-op mode, which will allow two gamers to take on the CPU together for all the main single player campaign so that you can share your frustration in the game with another gamer.

In addition to the co-op mode, the Red update includes a new Riot Shield unit, a new Upload multiplayer mode, 15 new single player mode missions and 10 new single player missions. The expansion also includes an appropriate Red Mode, which changes the color of the whole experience to red. Six new music tracks are also included to accompany this aesthetic change.

If you have no intention of purchasing the expansion, you may still be able to enjoy the multiplayer additions of Red if another game who you’re playing it has purchased it. Generous indeed.

If you’re a fan of strategy games and have never heard of Frozen Synapse, shame on you. The game is one of the deepest strategy games available on the App Store, an engaging and somewhat frustrating experience that always keeps you on your toes.

Frozen Synapse: Red is now available for purchase on the App Store for only $2/£1.49/€1,79.
