The Good Life: How to Turn into a Cat

The Good Life is a role-playing game like few others on the market. The game not only places great emphasis on exploration and character interaction, but it also features some very interesting mechanics that let main character Naomi Hayward turn into either a dog or a cat, and use some unique abilities to complete quests and discover all sorts of secrets.

These two forms, however, are not available right from the start of the game, and need to be unlocked to be used. Here’s how to unlock the Cat form.

How to Turn into a Cat in The Good Life

Right after getting settled in her new house in Rainy Woods, Naomi will be told to not go outside at night. Being an intrepid journalist, however, Naomi dismisses the suggestion and so ventures into the town at night, discovering that the townspeople can turn into cats and dogs.

After making this shocking discovery, Naomi will have to seek out a wacky witch called Pauline Atwood, who will task Naomi to bring her a Tear Fruit, Catnip and the picture of a mural to make a concoction that will help her. The three items are extremely easy to find, so just follow the markers on the map and return to the woods to get this concoction made

After drinking this potion, Naomi will become capable of turning into a Cat. To do so, you need to press the right directional button at any time during the game.

Cat Form’s Abilities

The Cat form in The Good Life comes with some special abilities that will let Naomi further explore Rainy Woods. While in this form, you can use Cat Vision with the ZL button to highlight Claw Marks to climb up walls and other buildings. Additionally, you can use Cat Vision to highlight and attack animals to obtain items and restore a small amount of the Hunger gauge. This comes in handy if you are out of food or if you are far from the Cafè or the Bar in Rainy Woods.
