The Legend of Zelda 35th Anniversary News Reportedly Getting Shared This Summer

2020 marked the 35th Anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series, and Nintendo celebrated it in style by releasing several games like the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. This year marks the 35th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series, and it is being speculated that the recent announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is only the beginning.

This has now become more than simple speculation, as it seems like Nintendo is waiting to make some additional announcement.

VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, who previously revealed information regarding Nintendo products correctly before the official announcements, recently revealed that more announcements regarding The Legend of Zelda 35th Anniversary will be shared this Summer. They apparently did not make any other announcement outside of Skyward Sword HD to not overshadow the Mario 35th Anniversary celebrations, which will end in March.

Sure, it could’ve released Wind Waker and Twilight Princess at the same time, but the company wants Zelda fans all focused on Skyward Sword. So instead of creating a situation where other Zelda releases on Switch cannibalize sales that could’ve gone to Skyward Sword, Nintendo will create a steady cadence of releases to celebrate the series. That will start with Skyward Sword HD in July, but we should hear about what is coming soon after that this summer

What Jeff Grubb revealed falls in line with what other gaming journalists teased last week. At this point, it seems very likely that we will see The Wind Waker and Twilight Sword on Nintendo Switch later this year.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD launches on Nintendo Switch on July 16th.
