The Pokemon Gym Challenge is Right Around the Corner for Pokemon Sword and Shield Players!

“But dude, I took down all the gym leaders and finished the main game ages ago! I’m not gonna play through all of those gyms again!” No, that’s not the gym challenge we’re talking about. This one is undoubtedly going to be harder, so you better put your best Pokeball forward!

In this Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield Online Tournament, you are going to go up against some of the most skilled Pokemon trainers around the world. The competition is made up of Single Battles, in which no duplicate Pokemon or items will be allowed in battle.

But why is this competition even called the ‘Gym Challenge’? That’s because you are only allowed Pokemon that have been used by the Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield Gym Leaders! Sure, you can mix and match Pokemon from every gym leader, but you cannot use a Pokemon that a gym leader hasn’t used themselves!

Below, I have compiled a list of every eligible Pokemon for the Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield Gym Challenge:

Registration Process

The sign-up dates for the Gym Challenge run from October 27, 2021 10:00 pm PST till Wednesday, November 10, 2021, 3:59 PST.

Here are the exact steps to register for the competition:

1) Start up your Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield Game

2) Select the X Menu

3) Select VS.

4) Select Battle Stadium

5) Select Online Competitons

6) Select Search Official Competitions

And that should lead you to the Gym Challenge. The competition starts on Thursday, November 11, 2021, 4:00 pm PST till Sunday, November 14, 2021, 3:59 pm PST.

Whether you win or not, every participant is awarded 50 Battle Points for their tenacity and dedication.
