Common mistakes to avoid in Hogwarts Legacy
1. Not upgrading your broom
In any open-world game, you will explore nooks and corners to unravel the story, and when Hogwarts Legacy was announced, most players were excited to fly using magical brooms. Some players, though, may not be aware of the fact that brooms are upgradable, continuing to use the basic broom.
You can purchase upgrades for your broom from Albie Weeks, the owner of Spintwitch’s Sporting Needs. Make sure to upgrade your broom as you progress through the main story.
2. Overlooking the Merlin Trials
In Hogwarts Legacy, you can find some simple, spell-based challenges called the Merlin Trials. Completing these challenges increases your inventory space, so, if you are having trouble managing inventory, take some time to complete Merlin Trials.
3. Wasting your talent points
In the early game, many players use their talent points as soon as they get them. However, it is highly recommended to save most of those points until you are deep into the game and have unlocked more talents. Only use your talent points if you are sure about which talents need upgrades.
4. Missing out on eye chests
Eye chests can be a lifesaver for those who have trouble collecting gold in Hogwarts Legacy. Each eye chest contains 500 gold coins, and many of these chests are in the game, so keep an eye on your mini-map to spot nearby eye chests.

5. Using single spells instead of making combos
There are a variety of spells in Hogwarts Legacy, some of them coming straight from the iconic books. One thing you should know, however, is that you can use spells consecutively to create powerful combos and deal more damage to enemies, because some spells have the ability to deal extra damage to inflicted enemies. Spend time practicing spells to find the right combo for you and your playstyle.
6. Buying potions and plants
If you have been to the potion store in Hogsmeade, you know how expensive potions are in this game. That is why it is better to brew your own potions and use them whenever needed. Some potion materials cannot be harvested, though, and you will have to explore the world to find certain ingredients.
Likewise, you should also grow and harvest plants after unlocking Room of Requirement instead of simply buying them all the time. Chinese Chomping Cabbage and Venomous Tentacula are great against groups of enemies.
7. Not rescuing beasts
Hogwarts Legacy features 13 unique beasts spread throughout the game, and you can rescue them and farm their materials to enhance your gear. With each enhancement, your gear will see a boost in offense and defense stats.
Fortunately, it is very easy to find beasts in the game: after progressing through the side quests for Room of Requirement, you get tons of space for beasts.
