Following the launch of update 2.0 back in November 2021, Redd has returned to the game, and players can purchase furniture and art from his shop. You should be careful when purchasing artwork from Redd, as some of the items he has on sale are not genuine, but elaborate fakes that can be difficult to distinguish from the real ones.

Here’s how to tell if the Warm Painting Redd is selling is real or not.

Warm Painting Real vs. Fake in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Unlike most items available for purchase from Redd’s shop, the Warm Painting is always the genuine artwork, so you can purchase it straight away if you see it available without having to worry about purchasing a fake. Being a genuine painting, you can also donate it to the Museum.

The Warm Painting is actually Francisco de Goya’s The Clothed Maya, one of the most popular paintings by the Spanish artist. It is the second and more discreet version of a previous painting from the artist known as The Nude Maja which looks pretty similar, not counting the clothed girl and a few other differences, like the sitter occupying more space in the clothed version.
