Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest instalment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.
The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh eventually. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles as was the staple of the series thus far.
Shiny Pokémon make their return in this game and Alpha Pokémon make their debut in this game. Players are wondering if Alpha Pokémon can be Shiny and what their odds might be. We have you covered.
Alpha Shiny Pokémon
Alpha Pokémon are stronger variants of their normal form. They have increased stats and their model sizes are maximum. They are also very aggressive and harder to catch than their normal variants. They can spawn either as fixed static encounters or rare wild encounters.
On the other hand, Shiny Pokémon are re-colored variants of their normal forms. These Pokémon do not have any different base stats or stat growth compared to their normal variants, but the extremely unlikely odds of running into one make them very coveted amongst collectors.
Alpha Shiny Pokémon are even rarer, combining the traits of the two and these are the odds for encountering one.
Alpha Shiny Pokémon encounter odds
The normal odds of encountering a Shiny Pokémon are 1/4096. This number can be increased to 1/2048 if the Pokémon’s research level is 10 in the Pokédex and further increases to 1/1024 if the research level is maxed out.
Furthermore, the chances are increased to 1/141 when they spawn in a Mass Outbreak. The best odds would be after accomplishing all of these tasks and gaining the Shiny Charm, which brings it to a 1/128 chance of encounter.
With how rare Alpha Pokémon are to spawn in the wild, chances of them being Shiny are even lower. We recommend doing all of the above tasks and saving the game in an area outside of a static Alpha Pokémon spawn location, then reloading the save and entering the area multiple times, resetting the spawn till the player gets its Shiny version!
