Apart from changing the battle system and bringing Pokémon to life in various ways through its overlord, Pokémon Legends: Arceus also delivers many distinct mechanics that use the game’s lore to give players rare encounters.
Occasionally, traveling through the Hisui region, you will often receive notice of an event called Space-time distortion beginning to form. Once this happens, you’ll have about five minutes to get to the area where the distortion is set to appear.
You can see them marked on your map with a distinct icon after you are informed. You can then clearly tell where it will form once you get close, as a large dome that’s made of refracting colors will be visible before it gets turned to multiple shades of purple after it’s fully formed.
So to understand this, space-time distortions are part of the reason your character has dropped into the ancient version of Sinnoh. And when they appear on the map, they tend to bring with them some interesting Pokémon that can only be found inside.
A lot of them are only obtainable through this method as well, such as Johtonian Sneasel, Porygon, and Magnemite. The Hisuian starters—Cyndaquil, Rowlet, and Oshawott—can also be found here, but only in the post-game. Additionally, spawn times for these zones are random, but appear to be affected by how active you are in the game doing things such as collecting resources or fighting Pokémon.
You should be careful when exploring the space-time distortion because the Pokémon you’ll come across will be extremely powerful and aggressive. Their levels can rival or even surpass that of your party. However, if you do go inside the zones, it can reward you with rare items spawn and encounters, along with some of those rare Pokémon as well.
