Something that makes the Story of Seasons games adorably unique is that they are always guaranteed to have bits and pieces of unexplained lore to them. These often come with little secrets you might not know about, especially when it comes to the Harvest Goddess and the creatures of the forest. In fact, they are just important to explore as anything else in the game. Occasionally, you may come across mysterious cute animals there. They do have a purpose beyond that though, which we’ll explain. These are what the forest animals are for in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life.

Where To Find The Forest Animals
In the spot between the Harvest Goddess’s area and the bridge across the river to the dig site, you may have seen either a turtle, a lizard, or a tanuki hanging out. They are NPCs you can’t interact with or make your pets, unfortunately. Seeing one of them in the forest is an extremely rare occurrence. When we played, the lizard only appeared on that one occasion and has not been seen since. They have a tendency to show up when they feel like it.
What The Forest Animals Do
You might be wondering since these animals seem pretty ornamental if they serve any other purpose. The answer is they actually do! When you find them in the forest, they will start to walk towards the river as if to guide you and stand there when you get there. They want you to fish because, on the day they appear, the fishing is significantly better than usual, you can find ones that sell for more money. Make sure to check often if they are there since it’s a once-in-a-blue-moon thing. Being able to get better fish is especially helpful when you are starting out in the game.
The origin of the forest animals is never explained, but it’s assumed that they are types of spirits connected to the Harvest Goddess. If you get lucky enough to meet one, let us know in the comments below!
