Pokemon Legends: Arceus has been marketed as a semi-open world adventure RPG that is changing up the usual formula for Pokemon games that we have known for all these years. One of these changes is the way Starter Pokemon are being handled in the game.

If you want to find out what the Starter Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus are, then continue reading below!

What are the Starter Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

Through various teasers and gameplay trailers released by The Pokemon Company, it has been revealed that the Starter Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus have each been picked from three different existing generations. They are Rowlet from Generation VI as the Grass type Starter, Oshawott from Generation V as the Water type Starter, and Cyndaquil from Generation II as the Fire type Starter.

The reason for these three starters being curated for Pokemon Legends: Arceus is speculated to be due to their lore origins and how they tie in with the theme of Hisui. Hisui is based off of ancient Japan, and the Rowlet, Oshawott, and Cyndaquil lines all have their lore based off of Japanese mythology.

Leakers have also said that each of the three Starter Pokemon will be getting their own Hisuian variant final stages, with unique typings.

Whether this will be confirmed as true or not can only be told on January 28, 2022, when Pokemon Legends: Arceus will see its global release on the Nintendo Switch.
