Core is the primary card set in Hearthstone, which was first made available on March 30, 2021, along with the Forged in the Barrens launch. It happens to be the largest set in the Standard Format, featuring a total of 235 cards, up until the previous Hearthstone year.
The purpose of the Core is to provide a modern collection of starting cards to players of all types and make Hearthstone even more approachable for newcomers. Some of the Core cards are returning from previous sets, some are reimagined favorites, some are completely new.
Changes to the Core Set in the New Hearthstone Year
Blizzard today announced that the next year of Hearthstone will be known as The Year of the Hydra. It will commence on April 12, adding the newest expansion, Voyage to the Sunken City, as well changing up the Core Set of Hearthstone.
While last year’s Core Set consisted of 235 cards, the new year’s Core Set will increase its number to 250 cards, with 57 cards are rotating out, and 72 cards are coming in. Below, we will list every card that is rotating in and out of the Core Set during the new year of Hearthstone.
