What is Heaven Mode in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life?

Unsure what heaven mode is all about and how it works? This is what heaven mode is in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life.

The Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life remake is finally here for all of us who played it back in the day to enjoy and breathe in the sweet nostalgia. This game is quite unlike any other farming sim you’ve likely played, coming with a style that takes farming simulator quite literally at times. It’s much simpler in its format compared to other games, what makes it perfect for those who aren’t into the construction mechanic—simple definitely doesn’t mean bad or boring, though. You just have to see for yourself.

Because of the way time passes in the game, things are different, and there is actually an endgame, which brings what’s called the heaven mode. If you’re wondering what is heaven mode in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, here is all you need to know.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.

How time passes in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life

To put it bluntly, you don’t just go on playing infinitely in A Wonderful Life, unlike in other farming simulators. You age like a regular person, and your child grows up into an adult. Eventually, your time to move to the “other side”, so speak, eventually comes, and that is where the main story of the game ends.

After you pass away, you enter what is called the heaven mode, where you get to keep farming as much as you want. It’s essentially “new game plus” but things don’t reset: your family and farm stay the same. That’s because it’s supposed to be the main character’s idea of heaven, with the farm they built, the family they raised, and the town they ended up calling home.

The message of the game

A Wonderful Life taught us that it’s not always about the length of a lifespan: it’s what you do with that time that’s important. The player builds a legacy and goes on to find peace, knowing that their farm will remain in good hands and be enjoyed by future generations of their family.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is out now for Xbox, PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
