If you’ve heard of Minecraft, chances are that you have also heard of Paper Minecraft, but just aren’t sure what it actually is. To find out what is Paper Minecraft in Scratch, just read on ahead!

What is Scratch?

Scratch is a visual programming language that allows people to create their own games, animations, and interactive stories. Developed by Lifelong Kindergarten group at MIT, originally with the intent of building kids’ creativity. Paper Minecraft was built using this exact programming language.

What is Paper Minecraft?

Paper Minecraft is simply the 2D version of the legendary building game, Minecraft, created with Scratch. Prior to starting a game, you can select from a variety of different character skins and game modes.

Survival Mode calls for skill and wit, needing to gather resources and food to keep yourself alive and build a settle for yourself to live in. Like in most Minecraft games, you will encounter various animals and different terrains such as fields, forests, lakes, deserts, and more.

You can also take on Creative Mode, where you can use your imagination to build anything that you can think of. Use a variety of different materials to build buildings, cities, or whole worlds even! You can also load pre-built maps which other players have already created.

Then comes Peaceful Mode. Just like in the original Minecraft, Peaceful Mode is the safest mode to use. In this mode, hostile mobs do not spawn and deal damage, with the exception of the Ender Dragon.

Paper Minecraft can be easily played from your web browser itself, check the game out here!
