You’ve heard of League of Legends, and you’ve heard of DotA 2, but have you heard of Pokemon UNITE?! Well… you probably have. The game came out like, last summer, so.
Even though we’re joking around, Pokemon UNITE in certainly no joke. The Pokemon-themed MOBA game came out just a year ago, and is already hosting their very first World Championship this year.
Pokemon UNITE’s 2022 World Championship will see skilled players from all over the world battling it out over the course of this year, all for the sake of fame, glory, and money. Lots of money.
And, you know, the right to call yourselves the best Pokemon UNITE players in the world.
What is the Prize Pool for the Pokemon UNITE World Championships 2022?
Over the course of the World Championship that will be running throughout the year and culminating in the Finals during the month of August, more than $1,000,000 will be won by players through the course of the tournament.
The team that wins the World Finals, winning the entire World Championship, walks away with $100,000, each player ideally getting $20,000 each since one team consists of five players.
The teams who win their Regional Championships that lead up to Worlds in August will also win a $20,000 cash prize.
How does the Pokemon UNITE 2022 World Championship work?
The race to the World Finals will take place from February to June. Teams of five from the seven regional zones, which are North America, South America, Europe, Oceania, Japan, South Korea, and Asia-Pacific will take part in Qualifying Tournaments, in which getting as high of a finish as possible will give you the most Championship Points.
Once the Qualifiers have ended, the top-performing teams with the most Championship Points move on to the Regional Championships. When the Regionals are finished and winners are declared, invitations will be sent to the top teams for the 2022 World Championship, culminating in the Finals that will take place during the month of August.
