The Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six series is a gaming franchise that doesn’t need any introduction, as it has always been extremely popular ever since the first entry in the series was released back in 1998. Following the huge success of Rainbow Six Siege, publisher Ubisoft expanded the franchise further this year with a new PC and console game, Rainbow Six Extraction.
The publisher’s efforts to make the series even more popular did not stop here, however, as Ubisoft announced today a new mobile game based on the series called Rainbow Six: Mobile. Here’s everything we know about the game and what we should expect to see in it.
What to Expect on Rainbow Six: Mobile on iOS and Android
On April 5, 2022, Ubisoft announced Rainbow Six: Mobile for iOS and Android, a free-to-play tactical first-person shooter that is being developed by a new team at Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other studios such as Ubisoft Winnipeg, Halifax, Paris, Quebec, and other studios.
According to the publisher, the game will feature the same tactical gameplay seen in previous entries in the series, as well as fast-paced action. Among the play modes that have already been confirmed is Attack vs. Defense, a dynamic play mode where Attackers will have to deploy observation drones to gain intel and breach through destructible floors and walls, while Defenders will have to defend entry points and use spy cameras and traps to prevent the Attackers from winning. PvP game modes like Secure Area and Bomb will also be included in the game.
Rainbow Six: Mobile will also feature customizable operators lifted from the series’ universe, and iconic maps from older Rainbow Six games, such as the Bank and Border maps from Rainbow Six: Siege. With the game having been developed specifically for mobile platforms, Rainbow Six: Mobile will feature modes that are exclusive to it, as well as comfortable and customizable controls.
