Coke is a form of fuel in Dwarf Fortress that players can use to power in-game industries like pottery, metalworking, and glassworking. Moreover, you also need Coke to assign and complete tasks at the kiln, glass furnace, forge, or Smelter. Each action will consume a single unit of Coke. So it’s better to have it handy. In the wake of that, you must know where to find Coke in Dwarf Fortress.

Where To Find Coke in Dwarf Fortress
In Dwarf Fortress, you can find Coke in the z-stocks menu’s bars sections. Doing so will let you explore the Bar/Block stockpile where you can find Coke, aka Coke Bars.

If you don’t have any Coke available in the stockpile, you can always make some at the Smelter. For that, you will need the following:
- Bituminous Coal
- Lignite
- A Dwarf with Furnace operating labor
The time taken to produce Coke at the Smelter depends on the skill level of the Dwarf operating it. The higher the skill level, the less time it takes to make Coke. That aside, smelting Bituminous Coal produces nine units of Coke, whereas smelting Lignite produces only five units.

That being said, ensure you have a stockpile to save the made Coke. If not, you can make a custom stockpile with Coal enabled and permitted.
On the same note, if you want to make a Stockpile that stores only Coal/Coke, you can do it by enabling Bars/Blocks and Bars: Other Materials → Coal and blocking everything else.
That is it. That concludes our guide on where to find Coke in Dwarf Fortress.
