Wolves and Boars are different types of wildlife in Fortnite. Wildlife also includes chickens, and they are all a type of AI which can interact with players. Wolves and Boars were updated in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 as rideable animals, effectively making them function as vehicles in the game. Find out more below!
Finding and Riding Wolves and Boars
The Wolf is a hostile creature who hunts in packs. They attack players until they are either defeated or the player loses them, while the Boar only attacks when startled and is happy to be left alone. If the Wolf is killed it drops 3 Meat, and the Boar drops 2 Meat and 2 Mushroom.
Riding the Boars is easier than riding the Wolves as it runs away more than it attempts to eat you so is easier to catch and tame. Both Boars and Wolves can be found wandering the map, usually near woods or farmland. Boars are usually alone while Wolves travel in packs.

Boars can be recognised by their snuffles and squeals, and Wolves howl together, especially when they see a player to hunt!

To ride the animals you either feed them meat (or produce) and then quickly use the interact function to jump on their back, or you can literally leap onto them. This can be a straight jump or a jump from a height. Once you have successfully jumped aboard the animal is tamed.
The animals can run, sprint, and jump but be warned- they do get tired! When they are exhausted they can be left to rest, or fed produce and fish to revive them. They can also be healed with Chug Splash if they are hurt by other players.
It is also possible to shoot at enemies while riding on the back of a Boar or Wolf, but this does put your animal in harm’s way.
That is everything you need to know about finding and riding one of these wild animals in Fortnite! Let us know in the comments below if you have managed to tame a wolf yet. Good luck and happy riding!
